Missy Elliott Receives Honorary Doctorate From Berklee College Of Music
Five-time Grammy award-winning rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer Missy Elliott now has a new accolade.
It was announced today (Mar. 12), that Elliott will be receiving an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music, according to CBS Boston.
The Virginia native will receive her honorary Doctor of Music degree alongside Justin Timberlake and Alex Lacamoire.
The commencement ceremony takes place May 11 at Boston University’s Agganis Arena.
Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Smokie Robinson, and Willie Nelson are among others who have received honorary doctorates.
This January, the “Lose Control” rapper was officially inducted into the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame making her the first woman MC to receive the distinctive honor; Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri are other hip-hop artists who have been inducted as well.
