R. Kelly’s Crisis Manager Darrell Johnson Resigns
Darrell Johnson is no longer R. Kelly’s crisis manager.
Monday night (July 22), after Johnson spoke with CBS News, he said that he would be stepping down from his position as the troubled singer’s crisis manager “for personal reasons.”
“I step down as crisis manager for personal reasons. Mr. Kelly is in good hands with Mr. Greenberg,” Johnson said referring to the head of R. Kelly’s legal team, Steve Greenberg.
This announcement came after Johnson told CBS This Morning’s Gayle King that he wouldn’t leave his daughters alone with the singer who is currently facing 195 years in prison in Illinois alone.
“I would not leave my daughter with anyone that’s accused of pedophilia,” Johnson told King.
Next month, Kelly is slated to appear in court in Brooklyn to face new sex crime charges.
For more than two decades, the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer has been accused of sexually exploiting women and girls, which the singer has denied.
The singer and songwriter is currently being in held in a Chicago jail without bond. During Johnson’s interview with CBS, he said that he’s concerned about R. Kelly’s mental state and well being. He also said that he’s afraid that the singer will harm himself.
