‘The Chi’ Actress Sonja Sohn Arrested For Possession Of Cocaine
Over the weekend, Sonja Sohn, who stars in Showtime’s The Chi, was arrested for cocaine possession in North Carolina.
According to Variety, Sohn was booked and released from the Dare County Detention Center in Manteo, N.C. , according to a statement from the Dare County Sheriff’s Office.
Sohn, who is best known for portraying Detective Kima Greggs on The Wire, was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over at 12:02 a.m. on Sunday (July 21) near the Washington Baum Bridge.
A police dog was alerted on the car and officers conducted a search, according to the Sheriff’s Office. There was a purse in the car that contained cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Sohn, whose given name is Sonja Denise Plack, was released on a $1,500 secured bond after being booked on a felony cocaine possession charge, as well as misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana paraphernalia and drug paraphernalia.
The person who was driving the car was cited and released for having an expired registration and for driving on a suspended license.
The 55-year-old actress has also appeared on Body of Proof, Shut Eye, Star Trek: Discovery, and Burn Notice. On The Chi, Sohn portrays Laverne Johnson. Showtime did not comment on the arrest.
