R. Kelly Alleged Victim Claims She Was Coerced Into Having An Abortion
The second accuser has taken the stand in the R. Kelly trial being held in New York and recounts the abuse she suffered in the hands of the disgraced singer in a testimony.
The alleged victim who was an aspiring singer testified that Kelly sexually abused her in 2015 when she was only 17-years-old, per USA Today. She told the jury that the singer pressured her to have sex with him in exchange for an audition and a promise to aid her in her future singing career.
The witness who appears as “Jane Doe #5” in the court documents, says she met Kelly when he was on his “Black Panties” tour and was invited to audition for the Grammy-winning singer. However, when she met up with the singer his plan changed: sex before singing. The alleged victim is now 23 and at the time she told him she was 18.
“I just wanted to sing,” she said in court per USA Today. “I genuinely wanted his input.”
The young woman testified that she had no romantic interest in Kelly and that he would only listen to her sing if she allowed him to perform a sex act on her so that in return that he would “take care of her for life.” Soon, she said, this became a pattern and they would regularly have sex. Kelly would videotape most of their encounters.
The alleged victim said that she contracted herpes after sex with Kelly and that he hadn’t disclosed his status to her.
“This man purposely gave me something he knew he had,” she said. “He could have controlled the situation.”
The witness also testified about Kelly’s violent rages, recounting the time he hit her with his size 12 shoes.
“He hit me all over,” she said. “I was running from him and fighting back.”
She says she was also coerced into getting an abortion in 2017 after Kelly said he wasn’t ready to have a child with her, she added.
During the high-profile trial, his marriage with Aaliyah was addressed. More accusers plan to take the stand in the following days.
