Kehlani Confirms They Prefer To Go By She/They Pronouns
Kehlani is getting more comfortable in their skin and in a recent cover story from Byrdie Magazine (Nov. 30), the R&B songstress confirmed their pronouns are she/they but prefers they: “I don’t mind when people say ‘she’ at all, but something feels really affirming when people say ‘they.’ It feels like… you really see me.”
Previously the R&B singer has identified as queer, bisexual, and even pansexual but doesn’t want to solely focus on labels.
“I wish it was more of a journey discovering how I love and what I need versus putting the emphasis on having to ‘come out’ with my sexual identity.”
Most recently the artist was spotted holding hands with fellow R&B artist SZA at the Met Gala and speculated that the two were an item which Kehlani debunked the rumor per HotNewHipHop: “They said I’m collecting R&B girls like Infinity Stones and I haven’t f—– with any of them.”
When the artist spoke about her album that is set to drop sometime this winter, the singer said it talks about her sexuality: “(It) talks about love and coming into gayness.”
We can’t wait to hear more from Kehlani and are happy to see them open up through their music.
