Young Thug Tweets From Jail, Confuses Fans With Swimming Question
Young Thug is seemingly tweeting from jail where he has been since May due to his ongoing RICO case. They’re confused about him tweeting from jail. And some were concerned when he posed a question to Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps.
“I’m talking with my roommate and we’re wondering if you could swim 100 miles from the middle of the ocean back to shore,” the rapper tweeted Wednesday (Aug. 31) adding a swimming emoji and then mentioning Michael Phelps in the tweet.

“Yeah. I think I could make it [swimming emoji],” Phelps wrote in response to Thug.

The Atlanta native then asked Phelps, “How long do you think it would take? [thinking emoji]”

Phelps has not responded as of yet to the latter question.
Young Thug was arrested back in May on charges of participation in street gang activity and conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. He is connected to the 56-count indictment with alleged members of YSL (Young Slime Life/Young Stoner Life/Young Slatt Life) which prosecutors have described as a “criminal street gang.” In addition to the YSL indictment, Thug (born Jeffrey Lamar Williams) faces seven felony charges (Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Violation of Georgia Controlled Substance Act – possession of a Schedule III, IV or V Controlled Substance with intent to distribute, Possession of firearm during commission of a felony,Possession of sawed-off shotgun, sawed-off rifle, machine gun, dangerous weapon, or silencer, and three charges of Unlawful for person employed by/associated with criminal street gang to conduct/participate in criminal activity) per local news outlet 11Alive.
Gunna, who is signed to YSL, is currently in jail and facing one count of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) act from the May indictment. The rapper was denied bail twice while Williams was denied three times. Both rappers have court dates scheduled for the beginning of next year.
Back in May, Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel spoke on the rapper’s innocence: “I’ll tell you the response to any allegation is Mr. Williams committed no crime whatsoever and we will fight to my last drop of blood to clear him.”
