SZA Speaks On Her Ex’s Cheating During London Show
SZA spoke about her ex-boyfriend on stage during a London stop on her SOS tour. The Grammy-winning singer and songwriter said that her ex cheated on her in London when they were dating.
“I never told anybody, but my boyfriend cheated on me in this city before,” SZA said which immediately garnered support from fans. “It was terrible. That’s why I was really sad to come here, but you guys made it so much better. Thank you!”
“This song is about my other trash ex-boyfriend,” SZA added before she began performing her next song “Nobody Gets Me.”

SZA spoke about the relationship previously in an interview per HipHopDX, “This particular song in entirety is a story about my ex-fiancé and how we went through all these arguments, and we broke up,” she said.
“When we first broke up, it was like terrible, and I just felt like I was gonna be doomed to be in hell for the rest of my life because nobody understood me the way he did, and nobody motivated me the way he did.”
Heartbreak is definitely a motivator for the singer, and it has at least led to great music. She has received several accolades regarding her sophomore project. SOS debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 where it stayed for ten (nonconsecutive) weeks. In addition, “Kill Bill” stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart which is the longest-running No. 1 single by a female solo artist. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige, previously held the record for her 2006 hit “Be Without You,” from her seventh studio album, The Breakthrough.
Most recently, SZA cleaned up at the 2023 BET Awards, where SOS tied for Best R&B Album with Beyoncé’s Renaissance. She also took home Best Video of the Year for “Kill Bill.” SZA also took the crown for Best R&B/Pop Artist at this year’s award show. Take a look at all the winners below:
