Dame Dash Claims Jay-Z ‘Betrayed’ Him ‘For Money’
Dame Dash and Jay-Z’s history began when they founded Roc-A-Fella Records with Kareem “Biggs” Burke back in 1994. Although the two have had a rocky past due to the ultimate breakup of the label, the former record executive recently spoke to Tony “The Closer” Robinson about his career in entertainment and his past with his former business partners Jay-Z and Biggs.
Robinson asked Dame what he regretted from the falling of Roc-A-Fella and if they didn’t split could they have accomplished more success in later years.
“Yeah, all that, but we were friends,” said Dame of Jay-Z. “How would you feel if your brother betrayed you for money? Would it hurt?… That’s the algorithm. It wasn’t surprising ’cause that’s what always happens. It was surprising ’cause no one—that’s what it was, we were breaking the algorithm, we were doing it a different way and sticking together, but that’s what always happens. They make one sell out the other, their friend, divide and conquer, that’s a normal story.”
The business mogul explained that he was shocked when Jay wanted to leave because they “never argued.”
“I didn’t know it was coming,” he continued. “That was some real slick s—. I was like, ‘That n—-‘s cold. He’s cold.'” Dash added, “Name a good n—- that didn’t get stabbed in the back.”
