Winnie the Pooh once said, “A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.” In the first trailer for horror flick Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey Winnie and Piglet are out for revenge. In the flick, they go on a killing rampage after Christopher Robin.

The movie stars Craig David Dowsett and Chris Cordell as Winnie and his best friend Piglet, respectively. The murderous pair go after Christopher Robin because he abandoned them for college and the two turn feral, seeking prey and stalking the humans near their homes.

As director Rhys Waterfield (who also did an Easter bunny-themed horror film last year, titled Easter Bunny Massacre) revealed in an interview with Variety, the film was shot over the course of 10 days near the Ashdown Forest in England. Waterfield took the inspiration for the Hundred Acre Woods as depicted in A.A. Milne’s original Winnie the Pooh stories, which entered the public domain this year. To avoid copyright issues with Disney, which owns the interpretations of the character as seen in various films and television shows, certain elements were changed. They replaced Pooh Bear’s iconic red shirt for lumberjack gear and omitted characters like Tigger, Eeyore, Owl and Rabbit, who are still under copyright.

Describing the tone of the movie, Waterfield told the publication that the slasher will balance the absurdity of the premise with genuine terror as the beloved characters embark on their rampage. “When you try and do a film like this, and it’s a really wacky concept, it’s very easy to go down a route where nothing is scary and it’s just really ridiculous and really, like, stupid,” Waterfield admitted before adding, “And we wanted to go between the two.”

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is set to release later this year. Watch the trailer below:
