Drake’s ‘Wah Gwan Delilah’ Gets Slammed So Hard, People Think He’s Over
Kendrick may have just pulled off single-handedly slaying his rap beefers, J. Cole and Drake, once and for all. On Monday (June 3), Drake dropped what many feel is the worst track of his nearly-20 year professional rap career.
Wah Gwan Delilah?
Drake and SNOWD4Y collaborated on a track that samples Plain White T’s 2006 hit, “Hey There Delilah.” The Canadian rapper and singer and the social media personality teamed up for (ready for it): “Wah Gwan Delilah.” As Snowd4y is also from Toronto, the lines are changed to, “Wah gwan Delilah, what’s it like in Toronto City?”
About a minute in, Drake’s voice comes in to repeat the title track in the lyrics then adds, “I just showed my dog your ‘gram, he said he knows a man who slapped it, I’m so cheesed. Your ‘mademoiselle’ nights are geeked. I’m bent lowkey.”
Wah Gwan Drake?
Before folks question if it was really Drake or AI, the rapper took to his Instagram Stories following the track’s release featuring the SoundCloud link. He added, “@snowd4y wake up the city [laughing emoji, relieved sigh emoji].”
Last month, Snowd4y teased the collab on his Instagram writing, “when this music video drops u wont even care about whos the Drake Vs Kendrick Beef.” In the clip, he added the text: “pov: Toronto’s biggest love song is coming out.”
Over on X (formerly Twitter), even Drake fans could not help but admit defeat that his last two songs that came out post-Kendrick beef have been flops. One person wrote, “I’m f—ing crying kendrick ruined this man i can’t stop laughing.” Another stated, “Kendrick really took away this man’s ability to rap.” Using a clip of Avengers: Endgame of Thanos taking out Vision’s Mind Stone, one person added, “kendrick taking j cole and drakes talent after beefing with them.”
The reactions just kept getting more ruthless. One person said, “Drake got done beefing with Kendrick and immediately dropped this sorry s— yeah he’s cooked.” Another roped in J. Cole and said, “Kendrick has done irreparable damage to Drake & Cole.” Added another, “Drake heard J. Cole’s Grippy verse and said hold up I gotta do something even more embarrassing.” One person hilariously noted from Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss, “Kendrick said he didn’t like him acting tough and he actually cut that s— out this is insane.” Added another, “we’re witnessing Drake in a psychotic episode.”
More folks gave Kendrick props for ending Drake and said things like, “I actually can’t believe this is real. Kendrick has broken this man.” Another suggested, “I physically can’t process this as a real thing. Drake, STAY YOUR A– INSIDE.” A third added, “Kendrick cooked Drake so hard he started singing in AI [sobbing emoji].” One person even said, “kendrick beat this n—- a– so badly he cant even rap anymore [sobbing emojis].” Chimed in another, “genuine tears kendrick sent this n—- to the shadow realm.”
Drake’s “biggest fan” even had to call him out and wrote, “i’m the BIGGEST drake fan, but drake… wtf was this?” Another fan called for an intervention, “Drake…WTF is this bruh? I need someone in OVO, 40, Nico or whoever to come get their guy and pull him to the side. This ain’t it.” Meanwhile, a third person ranked the song by saying, “yo no joke this is worst song drake has ever made.” Another said, “Kendrick made the biggest artist in the world crash out [sobbing emojis].”
One person was horrified and wrote this viral tweet: “THIS IS NOT A JOKE. THIS IS A REAL SONG. DRAKE CAME OUT OF THE KENDRICK LAMAR BEEF WITH THIS. AN ACCENTED VERSION OF HEY THERE DELILAH. I AM OVER HERE SHEDDING REAL TEARS.” Another viral post said, “Nothing could’ve prepared me to what I was about to hear when I pressed play.” Hilariously, one person said, “This new drake sound like some s— they play in Adam Sandler movies when times get rough.” And added a scene from Big Daddy.
