Victoria Monét ‘Gutted’ About Canceling Upcoming Shows
Victoria Monét is absolutely “gutted” about canceling upcoming shows next month. The “On My Mama” singer announced on Monday (May 20) that she is canceling her June shows in New York, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee to focus on her health issues.
Why Monét Is Canceling Upcoming Shows
“[crying emoji] I am gutted to share that I will no longer be able to perform at Governors Ball (NYC), Roots Picnic (Philadelphia) or Blavity (Nashville) this June,” Victoria wrote on her Instagram Story. “I am so sorry!! [broken heart emoji] Candidly I have been dealing with some ongoing health issues that have to be addressed right now, but I will be back out there soon, that’s a promise!”
“Please know it wasn’t an easy call but it’s definitely for the best,” she continued. “All other shows are still moved forward as planned. See you soon.”
Monét is still scheduled for the rest of her summer music festival appearances so far, such as Broccoli City Festival in Washington, D.C., Lollapalooza in Chicago and Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco.
About Monét’s Health Issues
Although the Grammy-winner hasn’t disclosed her current health concerns, Monét has recently opened up about suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) last month amid her sets at Coachella. “Welp.. I gained a lot of weight and it went a lot of places lol face, arms, tummy and most effectively… (my butt),” she wrote over a photo of her onstage. “I usually am so critical and frustrated by it because PCOS has me really messed up.”
Per the Mayo Clinic, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a problem with hormones that happens during the reproductive years. With PCOS, cysts develop along the outer edge of the ovary. The small fluid-filled cysts contain immature eggs, called follicles, and they fail to regularly release eggs.
Chappell Roan will be taking over Monét’s GovBall set. Meanwhile, Roots Picnic and Blavity House Party organizers are working to find their respective replacements, according to their social media accounts.
Reacting to the news on X (formerly Twitter), fans offered their support. One person said, “Victoria Monet has health issues?? Lord please take all of her pain and give it to diddy [smiling tear emoji, prayer hands emojis].” Another fan said, “I hope @VictoriaMonet is okay. I was so excited to see her at the Roots Picnic. I am happy that she is taking time to put her health first. Sending all my love to her.” A third wrote, “I hope she gets her health in check but this is the second time I’ll be missing her and I was so looking forward to it.”
