Residents across Louisiana are starting to clean up, after massive destruction was left in the wake of Hurricane Laura. The storm made landfall as a strong Category 4 hurricane around midnight local time, near Cameron in Southwest Louisiana.
Winds around 150 mph, and heavy rainfall, battered the region throughout the night. Because of the massive size and strength of the storm, it managed to remain a hurricane with winds over 70 mph all the way through Louisiana, before it finally weakened to Tropical Storm level as it crossed into Arkansas.
Officials have reported four deaths across Louisiana so far, according to KPLC, and flood waters are impacting the entire lowland area, as storm surges pushed high water levels up to 50 miles inland.
