Comedian Mark Curry starred in Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, which debuted 30 years ago today.

Can you believe it’s been 30(!!!) years since the legendary TV show “Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper” debuted? You feel old now don’t you?

The smash hit show aired for 5 years on ABC, starting on September 22, 1992, and starred Mark Curry and Holly Robinson. Man we miss that show.

The 90’s brought in television shows that reached the next plateau in viewership, content and images of the common family and relationships. Classics like “The Simpsons”, “Martin”, and “Family Matters” influenced viewership in the markets to point of commanding attention so much that other quality shows were shoved aside or not given a fair chance.

As shows like “Hanging with Mr. Cooper” turn 30, more platforms such as Hulu and Netflix are bringing these “not so famous” show back to prevalence.

Here’s a Top 10 list of my favorite quality shows overlooked in the 90’s.

  • 1. Hangin With Mr. Cooper

  • 2. Malcom and Eddie

  • 3. In the House

  • 4. The Parent Hood

  • 5. The Wayans Bros.

  • 6. On Our Own

  • 7. My Brother and Me

  • 8. The Steve Harvey Show

  • 9. One On One

  • 10. Half and Half
