Can You Guess the 3 Toys Inducted Into the Toy Hall of Fame in 2022?

The legendary spinning top was one of the toys inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame in 2022.

If you’re like me, you may be surprised to learn that there really is a National Toy Hall of Fame.

In the news, three new toys have been added to the Hall. See which toys received the 2022 honor below.

“The honorees, unveiled during a special ceremony at The Strong National Museum of Play, were chosen from a field of 12 finalists that also included (non-winners) bingo, Breyer Horses, Catan, Nerf, piƱata, Phase 10, Pound Puppies, Rack-O, and Spirograph.”

The Hall of Fame is located at One Manhattan Square in Rochester, New York.

“The National Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong, established in 1998, recognizes toys that have inspired creative play and enjoyed popularity over a sustained period,” the Hall of Fame’s site reads. “Each year, the prestigious hall inducts new honorees and showcases both new and historic versions of classic toys beloved by generations. Anyone can nominate a toy to the National Toy Hall of Fame. Final selections are made on the advice of historians, educators, and other individuals who exemplify learning, creativity, and discovery through their lives and careers. Toys are celebrated year-round in a state-of-the-art exhibit at The Strong museum in Rochester, New York.     Lite-Brite - The Strong National Museum of Play

    Inducted Year: 2022 In 1966, a New York City window display featuring hundreds of colored lights inspired toy creators Marvin Glass, Henry Stan, and Burt Meyer. Convinced they could design and build a plaything employing this concept, they simplified and streamlined the idea, and reduced the light source to a 25-watt light bulb.

    Inducted Year: 2022 Ancient peoples of Greece and Rome amused themselves with toys resembling the spinning tops we know today. Archaeologists have found 5,000-year-old clay tops in Iraq and 3,000-year-old whip tops in China. Native peoples of the Americas played with tops in the 15th and 16th centuries.
