A grand jury has indicted Eric Holder for fatally shooting Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle, and new charges have been added.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that Holder was indicted on May 9 on one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and assault with a firearm, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, reports USA Today.
The indictment includes that Eric Holder “personally used a handgun and caused great bodily injury and death.”
Holder was previously charged with the same counts by prosecutors, but the indictment means that they can avoid a preliminary hearing and go to trial.
Holder, 29, pleaded not guilty to all charges on Tuesday (May 21) and is due back in court for a pretrial hearing in June. Holder’s bail has been set at $6.53 million.
If he is convicted he faces life in state prison. Holder has been accused of fatally shooting Nipsey Hussle five times outside of his clothing store in South Los Angeles on March 31. Two other men were also wounded during the shooting.
After a two-day manhunt, Holder was arrested on April 2. Holder’s former high-profile attorney, Christopher Darden filed a motion to withdraw from the case, earlier this month amid death threats. Holder now will be represented by a public defender lawyer, according to the district attorney’s office.
