DMX’s Family To Hold Prayer Vigil Outside Of His Hospital
A prayer vigil is planned for DMX today outside the New York hospital where the rapper remains on life support following the overdose that triggered a heart attack.
The family of the rapper said in an email Sunday, “on Friday night, April 2nd, 2021, our brother, son, father, and colleague DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, was admitted to White Plains (NY) Hospital, facing serious health issues. We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges.”
The Ruff Ryders to the Rescue Foundation will be holding the vigil outside of White Plains Hospital at 5 p.m., the Associated Press reported.
50-year-old DMX was hospitalized last Friday in grave condition after suffering a heart attack at his home around 11 p.m. DMX’s attorney Murray Richman said he could not confirm reports that DMX overdosed on drugs and was not sure what caused the heart attack. Upon being admitted to the ICU, DMX had to be resuscitated and was put on life support, Richman added.
Over the years, DMX has battled with substance abuse, according to Associated Press. The rapper canceled a series of shows to check himself into a rehabilitation facility in 2019. In an Instagram post, his team said he apologized for the canceled shows and thanked his fans for the continued support.
