The video featured Kylie Jenner, Normani, Rubi Rose, Mulatto, and more in a fun-house style theme as the women danced in lingerie. Critics believed the lyrics were too raunchy and dance moves were too seductive however, the Grammy-winning artist clapped back, claiming she doesn’t make music for kids.
“Ya needs to stop with this already ! I’m not jojosiwa ! I don’t make music for kids I make music for adults,” Cardi tweeted at the time. Parents are responsible on what their children listen too or see.I I’m a very sexual person but not around my child just like every other parent should be.”
Megan defended “WAP” in her interview with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“First of all, I wanna say thank you to Cardi for even putting me on the song,” she said in December per PEOPLE. “But, I mean, I felt like that was really, like, a little weird. I know the Republicans have been having a bad year and they probably needed to take their frustration out somewhere.”
The song ended up debuting at No.1 on the Billboard 100, going six times platinum and securing multiple awards per Complex.
As for another collab? We are patiently waiting for another sex-positive bop with these two.
