Dr. Dre Gives Rihanna Advice Ahead Of Super Bowl Halftime Show
Dr. Dre is giving Rihanna some pointers ahead of her Super Bowl 2023 LVII Show performance.
The legendary producer, who is a “superfan” of the “We Found Love” singer, says he “can’t wait to see what she’s going to do.” “I just like her and what she does, and her get down, and how she approaches her artistry and the whole nine. It’s fantastic,” said Dr. Dre, per PEOPLE. “She has the opportunity to really blow us away. I know we set the bar extremely high.”
When asked about advice he has for Rihanna ahead of the gig, the rapper said, “Put the right people around you, and have fun.”
“That’s basically what it is, making sure you have the right creative people around you,” he continued, adding, “She might want to look into some of the people that we used to do our show.”
Dr. Dre took the stage last year at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime show with Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and surprise guest 50 Cent.
Rihanna teased fans on Sunday before the NFL made the official announcement that she would be the Halftime performer when she posted her hand holding an NFL-branded football against a white backdrop. The superstar captioned the photo with a simple period, “.”
Comments from fans with excitement immediately started flooding the singer’s comment section. “I’ve never been so excited about football in my life!!! [heart emoji],” one fan wrote.
“Omggggg the fenty bowl is coming,” another fan commented.
After the NFL made confirmed that Rihanna would be 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show performer, they changed their bio to “national fenty league” and tagged her Instagram account. RiRi also got a shoutout from Jay-Z who signed the Bajan singer in 2005 when he was the president of Def Jam.
“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn,” Jay-Z, who previously signed a deal with the NFL to head the league’s musical entertainment, said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”
Super Bowl LVII will be played in Arizona on February 12.
