North Carolina: When People Are Most Confident Being Naked
The level of confidence people feel when naked can be shaped by numerous factors, including personal upbringing, cultural backgrounds, and societal standards of beauty. Some people possess a natural sense of self-confidence, appreciating their bodies’ uniqueness and feeling comfortable in their own skin. This confidence often stems from a positive body image and a healthy appreciation for the diversity of human forms.
On the other hand, others might struggle with body confidence, experiencing feelings of inadequacy or comparing themselves to unrealistic beauty ideals. Additionally, society can tend to be heavily influenced by social media. The prevalence of idealized images of Instagram models can further complicate the issue, potentially affecting how people perceive their own bodies and their overall self-esteem.
Methodology
Bespoke Surgical, a privately-owned plastic surgery practice, conducted a survey on body confidence in relation to nakedness. They gathered responses from 3,166 participants, ensuring a representative sample that encompassed different sexual orientations, generations, and gender identities. The survey aimed to explore the states where people felt the most confident without clothes. It’s worth noting that data from Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming. They were excluded due to an insufficient number of respondents. Nevertheless, they still obtained valuable insights from the remaining 44 states.
Participants were asked to rate their level of confidence while naked on a scale from one to ten. The highest level of confidence was represented by ten. Interestingly, no state scored above 5.8 on the nudity confidence scale.
The survey also revealed that a considerable majority of respondents, about 71%, expressed feeling pressured or seriously pressured to conform to a specific body type. According to the study, social media appeared to be a significant factor contributing to this pressure. Approximately 82% of the survey participants identified social media as the main source of pressure to conform to certain body standards.

In North Carolina, people feel highly confident about being naked. The state has an average of 5.3 out of ten their with level of confidence rating score.
When it comes to feeling confident in the buff, Washington takes the crown as the most confident state. Right behind are Rhode Island and Delaware, strutting their stuff in second and third place. Maryland and Colorado also make the top five, oozing with body confidence. On the flip side, there’s a tie for the least confident states. These states include Indiana and Oregon both feeling a bit shy nude. While Nebraska and Minnesota join the ranks of states with lower levels of nudity confidence.

When asked about the moments they feel most at ease in the nude, respondents indicated that their highest confidence was during sexual activity. With the lights off, with an average rating of 8.59 out of 10. Following closely behind, being alone at home while naked also received a notably high average rating of 7.85.

Music can be used to regulate your mood by easing negative emotions and enhancing positive ones. Within Health, a company that helps with eating disorders recoveries study on how music impacts body image. Part of their study features music acts in several genres that they say make people feel confident.
They used the searches on a digital music streaming service to gather their results. Compiling a total of 2,544 playlists that were found when searching “confidence,” “feel good,” “body positivity,” “body image,” “feeling ugly,” and “bad body image.”
The study found that Lizzo is the top artist to listen to for body confidence. When it comes to the rock genre, it’s the most listened-to genre by fans with positive body image at percent.
Another result from the study found that 28 percent of people think music videos have a negative impact on body image.

Meanwhile, the top three songs found on the body-positive playlist include “Confident” by Demi Lovato, “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus, and “Kill Bill” by SZA. These and many other songs in this category feature lyrics about strong individuals who reject outdated beauty standards in favor of creating their own.
The top three songs found on the negative body image playlist include “Prom Queen” by Beach Bunny, “Fat Funny Friend” by Maddie Zahm, and “Jealousy, Jealousy” by Olivia Rodrigo. Playlists on the negative end of the body positivity spectrum were more often populated with songs about struggling with beauty standards.
Their research showed specific artists that are linked to making people feel confident. From Luke Combs, Drake, and Nirvana to Daft Punk, Pink Floyd, and Taylor Swift.
