NFL Kickoff Rules Changing, After Owners Vote to Revamp Procedures
This NFL offseason is going to bring about a lot of changes. One of the biggest is the new NFL kickoff rule which was voted on and approved by over 90 percent of the league owners.
The new change adopts the XFL kickoff standard where the kicker still kicks from the 35-yard line but the other 10 players are lined up at the opposite 40-yard line and the receiving team is lined up on the 30-yard line. The biggest difference is neither team can move until the ball is caught. This rule is meant to encourage more kickoffs while reducing injuries.
I personally feel like they will tweak this rule some to get it perfect, but I’m all for it.
