Tiger Woods Shoots Career-Worst Masters Round of 82
Time finally caught up to Tiger Woods on Saturday, as he shot his worst round ever at Augusta National.
Everyone generally assumed a 23-hole grind on Friday would be the exhausting part of the week for Woods, but he powered through that fairly efficiently to easily make the cut.
Woods completely fell apart on Saturday though, shooting a 10-over round of 82.
It’s his worst round at The Masters ever, and – according to the PGA Tour – only the seventh time he’s shot in the 80s as a professional. He had never had worse than a 78 at the tournament he’s made his biggest name on.
Woods started the day easily enough, getting pars on the first three holes. But the wind that haunted Augusta on Friday began to strike back.
The next sequence of holes to close out his front 9 was something he’ll want to erase from his memory quickly. He went bogey-birdie-bogey-double bogey-double bogey-bogey. It was a disappointing 42 that quickly eliminated him from any sort of contention for his sixth Green Jacket.
But the back 9 wasn’t much better. After pars on 10 and 11, Woods went bogey-birdie-bogey-bogey-bogey-bogey-par to close out with the 82.
It’s not the Tiger Woods of old, that’s for sure. He hasn’t been the same since his accident in February of 2021. But given that he even is playing golf again at 48 years old, with pins in his legs and ankles, at all is a miracle.
Woods isn’t actually in the worst shape of the tournament though, as there are four golfers lower than him on the leaderboard currently. Unfortunately, they all started well behind him as well.
Still, it will be an early tee time for Tigers Woods on Sunday – assuming he even opts to play the final 18 holes of the 2024 Masters.

LIVE BLOG: 2024 Masters Round 3 Coverage at Augusta National
Good morning and welcome back to the weekend at The Masters. After a wild, windy first couple of days, we have a logjam among the leaderboard.
After surviving – and it really was surviving – their second rounds Friday afternoon, Max Homa, Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau are tied for the lead at 6-under. Yesterday’s round 2 play saw an average score of 75.08, the highest since 2007.
After a late cutline drop, 60 golfers made it to the weekend. Starting the day off will be Rickie Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama, at 9:35 a.m.
Tiger Woods will tee off at 12:35 p.m.
Watch for some low scores on 8, 13 and 15 today, with favorable hole positions. But there’s plenty of drama elsewhere.
