Several celebrities have fallen victim to content created by artificial intelligence (AI) but attributed to them. Recently, Megan Thee Stallion’s likeness has allegedly been included in an AI sex tape.

The rapper says that it is not her in the sex tape and warned that she would take legal action against anyone who promotes the video as authentic on X, formerly Twitter.

“It’s really sick how yall go out of the way to hurt me when you see me winning,” she wrote on Saturday (June 8). “Yall going too far, Fake a—sh--. Just know today was your last day playing with me and I mean it.”

More Stars Impacted By AI-Generated Content

Unfortunately, Megan Thee Stallion isn’t the only celebrity who has been negatively affected by AI. Back in November, Cardi B promised to take scammers to court after they used a deep fake version of her voice to push a money scam.

The rapper took to X on November 22 and shared a clip that features a dub of her fake voice over a real video of her.

“Yo it’s ya girl Cardi and I’ma show you how to put $16,000 in your pocket right now for free!” AI Cardi says in the clip. “So pay attention! The state’s handing out these stacks to every single one of y’all. You don’t even need a job! It’s all part of a stimulus-style program to help Americans get back on their feet. They’re sending out these health spending cards re-loaded with that green every single month!”

In her retweet, Cardi wrote: “AI is crazy smh….another lawsuit that fell right on my lap…I love easy money.”

Interestingly, just a few days after Cardi B, rapper Sexyy Red was targeted by the same scam.  A tweet shared by user NateRuns on November 21 revealed that a digitized version of the St. Louis native’s voice had been used to advertise “free money” — wherein the would-be Sexyy Red claims that “the government be handin’ out stacks to y’all,” in what appears to be a stimulus check scam.

The X user wrote, “Ummm does sexyy red know a company is using her voice to steal peoples info???”

On November 23, Sexyy Red quote-tweeted the video and wrote, “My lawyer bout to have a field day.”

Earlier this year, singer Taylor Swift’s likeness appeared in AI-generated advertisements promoting free giveaways of Le Creuset cookware. The fake advertisements for the cookware brand used pieced-together clips of the singer with a synthesized version of her voice and images of Le Creuset Dutch ovens.

After a social media hiatus, Megan Thee Stallion is back. Megan dropped off social media after the sentencing of Tory Lanez (born Daystar Peterson). Lanez was found guilty of three charges: first-degree assault with a firearm, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, and having a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He shot the rapper in the foot in 2020 after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner's home.

The rapper was sentenced to 10 years in prison after his bail motion was denied in September. Prosecutors initially asked for 13 years. Following his sentencing, Lanez wrote a note to his fan base, "The Umbrellas" on Instagram.

Tory's statement read: "In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of," Tory wrote on Instagram. "I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do. I’ve faced adversity my whole life and every time it looked like I would lose, I came out on top. This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious. Tough times don’t last, tough people do. To my family, friends, and umbrellas thank you for your continued support. See you soon."

Megan didn't appear in court but she sent a statement in on her behalf.

"He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma," Megan wrote, per Law&Crime reporter  Megan Cuniff. "He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul.

"He lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media. He released music videos and songs to damage my character and continue his crusade."

She continued: "At first, he tried to deny the shooting ever happened. Then, he attempted to place the blame on my former best friend. In his tantrum of lies, he’s blamed the system, blamed the press and, as of late, he’s using his childhood trauma to shield himself and avoid culpability."

"For once, the defendant must be forced to face the full consequences of his heinous actions and face justice," she concluded.
