‘Tis the season – homecoming season, that is! In North Carolina, the pride and tradition of HBCUs run deep, and they shine brightly during the annual Homecoming festivities. These esteemed institutions are renowned for their academic excellence and their ability to foster a strong sense of community, cultural pride, and deep connections among students and alumni. The Homecoming celebrations embody these cherished values, creating an atmosphere that extends far beyond the academic year, forging lifelong bonds among those who have walked the hallowed campuses.

Homecoming at North Carolina’s HBCUs is much more than a mere reunion; it is a tradition steeped in history, community spirit, and culture. • Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville

  FSU’s Broncos Homecoming is set for November 12th to 18th, 2023. Events will include a parade, alumni mixers, a homecoming concert, and the Broncos football showdown.
  Each of these HBCU homecomings is a unique experience that celebrates the enduring spirit and achievements of these proud institutions and their alumni.

• North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro

  The Aggie Homecoming, known nationally as the “Greatest Homecoming on Earth,” is planned for October 29th to November 4th, 2023. This week-long event features a comedy show, concert, fashion show, Greek step show, parade, and the much-anticipated football game.

• Elizabeth City State University, Elizabeth City

  ECSU’s Viking Homecoming will occur from November 5th to 11th, 2023. Key events include an alumni dinner, step show, parade, and the decisive Viking football game.

• North Carolina Central University, Durham

  Scheduled for October 1st to 7th, 2023. The week-long celebration will feature a parade, alumni reunions, tailgating, and the definitive Eagle football game.

  The Rams will host their Homecoming from October 15th to 21st, 2023. The festivities include a concert, parade, alumni gatherings, and the climactic WSSU Rams football match.

  The Falcons of Saint Augustine University will celebrate their Homecoming from September 24th to 30th, 2023. The week is packed with a variety of events ranging from alumni gatherings, a parade, to the much-awaited Falcons football game.

  Shaw University’s Homecoming is slated for October 8th to 14th, 2023. The Bears have a lineup of exciting events including a concert, parade, and alumni reunions, all culminating in the exhilarating Shaw Bears football match. It appears Shaw and St Aug have teamed up for the Kash Doll & Toosii concert on October 6th.

• Johnson C Smith University, Charlotte

  JCSU’s Golden Bulls will host their Homecoming from November 19th to 25th, 2023. The week’s events include a concert, parade, alumni gatherings, and the climactic Golden Bulls football game.
