This holiday season, keep your vegan friends in mind when you're making those soul food meals.

We live in an age of endless dietary restrictions. Since my days as a carnivore are long gone, one of the things I love most about the Holidays felt long gone too: food. I grew up in a true Southern Soul Food family, but not necessarily as a vegan. God blessed me with a mother who cooks the kind of food people travel from miles around for. If there’s one thing Betty-Faye is going to do, it’s go offff in a kitchen!

Many of us have friends and family with dietary restrictions and if you’re hosting friends and family over the holidays, it would be such a warm surprise for them to find plant-based options! It may even open up the palettes of other guests to plant-based dishes. I think you’ll be surprised at the versatility you can find and create in a plant-based diet.

As I have embraced my plant-based diet over the past couple of years, I have found some amazing recipes. Recipes that incorporate my modern dietary restrictions with my soul food roots. Keep scrolling for some of the best vegan soul food creations I’ve found so far. Don’t forget you can always add vegan tweaks in to personalize the Soul Food flavors just don’t use tweaks that jeopardize the dietary integrity of the dish.
