MIAMI, FLORIDA - JANUARY 30: Lil Wayne performs onstage during the EA Sports Bowl at Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest on January 30, 2020 in Miami, Florida.

There are so many artists in Hip Hop who don’t get the flowers they deserve. For me Lil Wayne is at the top of that list.

Recently there was a viral video of NLE Choppa giving Tunechi his flowers and it made me do a mental recap of Wayne’s epic career.

Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. aka Lil Wayne started rapping at 12 back when he was called Baby D. I literally grew up listening to his music and he has created songs as a child star with Cash Money Records that are still on my playlist today.

If you know anything about Hip Hop, you’re fully aware that Cash Money literally took over “for the 9-9 & 2000!” This was around the time that Wayne and BG joined The Hot Boys. Bling Bling was not only a hit song and Hip Hop anthem, the term was eventually added to the dictionary! From Tha Block is hot, through Tha Carter trilogy, and on into the present day Funeral album Lil Wayne has created classic award winning Hip Hop music.

His reach doesn’t stop at music, this man has had an epic impact on fashion, sports, and “The Culture” as a whole. The reaction of the Dreamville audience when he surprised us and joined Drake on stage in April only speaks to his greatness as an artist.

Easily one of the few GOATs of Hip Hop and absolutely top 5 dead or alive. More of us should follow in the footsteps of NLE Choppa and give this man his well deserved and much overdo flowers.

Here’s some of the most popular Lil Wayne tracks to give you a dose of his greatness.
