Rihanna To Be Honored With President’s Award at 51st Annual NAACP Image Awards
On Tuesday (Feb. 4) it was announced that Rihanna, 31, has been named as the recipient of the President’s Award at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards.
The NAACP’s president, Derrick Johnson will be presenting the “Diamonds” singer with the award during the show on Feb. 22, as USA Today reports.
“Rihanna has not only enjoyed a groundbreaking career as an artist and musician but has also distinguished herself as a stellar public servant,” Johnson said.
“From her business achievements through Fenty to her tremendous record as an activist and philanthropist, Rihanna epitomizes the type of character, grace, and grace and devotion to justice.”
Jay-Z, Jesse Jackson, Colin Powell, Lauryn Hill, and Muhammad Ali, among others, have received the honor in the past.
The award show will be televised for the first time on BET, airing live from Pasadena, California.
