Beasley Media of Fayetteville (Foxy 99, WKML, My Kiss Radio, Sunny 94.3, 96.5 BOB FM, Old School 107.7) awarded Jayla a brand new 2019 Honda Civic LX from Lumberton Honda for her academic and attendance achievements this school year. To qualify, Robeson County Schools students had to maintain a GPA of 3.2 for each grading period of the 2019-2020 school year, and have had no more than five unexcused absences. The car was awarded at a special event Thursday evening at Lumberton Honda.
Additionally, six $1,000 scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors by Piedmont Natural Gas. The scholarship winners representing the six Robeson County schools were:
- Vera McNeil – Fairmont High School
- Labreah McNair – Lumberton Senior High School
- Savannah Lowery – Purnell Swett High School
- Erika Castrejon – Red Springs High School
- German Martinez-Castrejon – Early College High School
- Tiffany Smith – St. Paul’s High School
Because of the impacts of the coronavirus on the school year this year, the normal large event couldn’t be held to give away the car. Instead, Beasley Media and Lumberton Honda partnered for a senior parade of cars. Seniors were invited to decorate their cars and drive through the dealership to receive a gift from the sponsors, and to enter their car in the best decorated car contest.
Ryley Floyd of Lumberton High School won best decorated car for the “COVID-car” and receives a special prize pack. (See the winning car in the gallery below.)
Beasley Media Group, Robeson County Schools, Lumberton Honda and Piedmont Natural Gas are proudly supporting this year’s Driven 2 Excel program in Robeson County.
