‘Cheer’ Star Jerry Harris Arrested on Charge of Producing Child Pornography
Jerry Harris, the breakout star of the Netflix series Cheer, has been arrested on a federal child pornography charge.
In a release from the Northern District of Illinois’ United States Attorney’s Office, Harris was taken into custody today (September 17) “on a federal child pornography charge for allegedly enticing an underage boy to produce sexually explicit videos and photos of himself.”
In the criminal complaint filed in Chicago’s U.S. District Court, “The minor victim informed Harris during their initial online encounter that he was 13 years old.
Harris is scheduled to make an appearance in court today at 2 PM CT/3 PM ET on once charge of producing child pornography. The investigation into Harris’ actions remains ongoing.
The Northern District of Illinois’ United States Attorney’s Office stated, “Production of child pornography is punishable by a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years. If convicted, the Court must impose a reasonable sentence under federal statutes and the advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.”
