Damon Wayans Challenges Dave Chappelle To A Verzuz Battle
Damon Wayans wants to take on Dave Chappelle in a spin-off of the popular Instagram series Verzuz. The series has, thus far, pitted musicians against each other, but this matchup would mark their first foray into comedy.
When asked in an interview per HYPEBEAST, the actor asked the host, “Do they do it with comedians?” in regards to Verzuz battles.
Later the hosts asked who would he want to go against and Wayans instantly answered “[Dave] Chappelle. I’m calling him out,” Wayans added with a laugh.
Wayans retired from stand-up in 2015 but both comedians have had their own respective sketch shows. Wayans had In Living Color, which aired from 1990-1994, and Chappelle with The Chappelle Show, which ran from 2003-2006.
The two have been keeping busy as Wayans is currently working on a new comedy series for ABC and Chappelle released a stand-up called 8:46 for Netflix back in 2020.
