Fake Version Of Kanye’s ‘Donda 2’ Fools Fans Enough To Chart
Kanye fans wanted Donda 2 to be released so badly that that one fan took it into their own hands and uploaded a fake version of the album under the name “Wanye Kest.”
Donda 2 is still charting on Apple’s service, as it sits at No. 40 on the Top Hip-Hop Albums chart. But that’s not Donda 2 by Kanye West. “Kest” uploaded 11 out of the 16 songs from Donda 2 onto the streaming platform Monday (Feb. 28).
Before Ye announced that he would be putting Donda 2 only on Stem Player, he claims he was offered 100 million by Apple to exclusively put the album on their music platform which he declined, per Billboard.
“I got offered $100 million by [Apple Music’s] Larry Jackson to put Donda on Apple, but I ain’t never got a meeting with Tim Cook,” he said at his Jeen-Yuhs event in February. “So it ain’t about the money, it’s about our power and our respect collectively.”
This comes days after fans created an emulator in order to pirate the 16 released songs from Stem Player and opt out of purchasing the $200 device.
Ye fans will do whatever it takes in order to get their hands on Donda 2.
