A Fayetteville man is celebrating today, as he won the top prize in a North Carolina Education Lottery scratch-off game featuring country music star Luke Combs.

In Combs’ hit song “When It Rains, It Pours,” he celebrates his new-found good fortune after losing his woman, “Then I won a hundred bucks on a scratch-off ticket. I bought two 12-packs and a tank of gas with it.”

But for Emmanuel Glover, it was actually $200,000 he won on the $5 Living Lucky ticket. He bought the ticket last week from Antioch Food Mart on U.S. 158 in Oxford.

As part of the game, a second-chance lottery drawing for a chance to go to a private concert with Luke Combs in Nashville. Glover said he would enjoy that!

“I love to venture out and try new things,” said Glover. “If I win, I’ll enjoy the trip down there.”

Glover and his wife were in the car when they discovered the win.

“I had to blink a couple times to see if it was real,” said Glover. “Then, we went about our day trying to hold it in.”

He will head home with $142,501 after the required state and federal taxes. It’s the second time someone has won the grand prize in the Luke Combs game – both of them in Oxford coincidentally – and there are three more out there.

Ticket sales from scratch-off games make it possible for the lottery to raise $2.5 million a day on average for education. For details on how $23 million raised by the lottery made a difference in Cumberland County last year, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
