Stepping Up: Fayetteville Wrestler G-Moniy Wrestles Match for National Wrestling Alliance (NWA)
Everybody by now should know that I’m not just an on-air radio talent on Foxy 99 in Fayetteville, but I’m also a wrestler, and I love wrestling. What people may or may not know is that I started pursuing my love of wrestling in late 2019. Since then I’ve had the opportunity to meet some of wrestling’s biggest stars and wrestle in several states.
On the weekend of June 3rd and 4th, I went with my trainer, Nite-Stic Eddie Brown, and the Ring Wars Carolina family to take a trip to Winston-Salem, NC for the NWA Crockett Cup tournament. Our hope was that we could put in some work and have a chance to wrestle a match for management.
After a couple days of setting up the ring, arranging the arena, working security, etc for a couple days an opportunity came around Sunday afternoon during the Fan Fest. I ended up teaming up with Ring Wars Carolina original Gem Stone to form the team “XLG” and wrestle in an 8-man Tag Team Match. We were successful in our first (and hopefully not last) appearance for the National Wrestling Alliance.
I’m not sure if they’ll show the match on any of their shows, either way it happened and I’m thankful, as I’ve come a long way from just a wrestler in Fayetteville.
