Michelle Obama Is All of Us in This Hilarious Text Exchange With Her Mom
She may be the former FLOTUS and a record-breaking author and speaker, but Michelle Obama’s mom is here to remind her that she’s just like everyone else.
In a series of text messages, Marian Robinson manages to lovingly remind Michelle Obama who will always be the original boss in her life.
It all starts with a message that appears to suggest that Michelle forgot to mention to her mother that she would be attending the GRAMMYs.
“I guess you were a hit at the Grammys,” Robinson writes.
“I’m sitting here with Valerie and this text is so typically you” Obama replied, adding “Did you watch it?!”
From there, Robinson goes into full mom mode.
“I saw it because Gracie called me. Did you meet any of the real stars or did you run right after you were done.”
Obama then tried to come to her own defense, telling mom “I told you I was going to be on it…”
“No you did not. I would have remembered that even though I don’t remember much,” Robinson wrote back.
Obama then sent a series of laugh emojis, noting “I thought I told you.”
She then added: “And I Am A real star … by the way…” to which Robinson replied “Yeah.”
Obama was a major hit with the audience at the GRAMMYs Sunday, earning a standing ovation for her appearance with Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez and as a guest of show host Alicia Keys. The women all shared messages of the unifying power of music.
Obama later added that she was proud to celebrate her friend Keys by supporting her.
A big part of friendship is showing up for your girls—that’s why I was thrilled to be there for the one and only @aliciakeys at the #GRAMMYs. She is one of the most genuine and thoughtful people I know—there’s no one better to help us all celebrate the unifying power of music! pic.twitter.com/8cMhTmsClA
