Desus & Mero Split, End Showtime Series
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA - APRIL 20: Desus Nice (L) and The Kid Mero attend the FYC Event for VICELAND's DESUS & MERO at Saban Media Center on April 20, 2018 in North Hollywood, California.
Desus Nice and The Kid Mero, the comedy duo best known for their Bodega Boys podcast and late-night TV show Desus & Mero have split up.
The show’s official Twitter page tweeted that the comedians “will be pursuing separate creative endeavors moving forward” and that Desus & Mero would not be returning to Showtime. In turn, the show changed it’s bio to read “Our run was good as hell.”
“Shouts to showtime & shouts to the hive, thanks for being part of the journey,” Desus tweeted. “Proud of the show my staff made every episode. Big tings soon come…”
Mero responded to the news by simply retweeting the show’s Twitter announcement.
The show ran for four seasons on the network and included guest stars such as Lil Nas X, Noname, Vince Staples, and more. The last episode aired on June 23.
This announcement follows the rumored split of the two comedians; those rumors started circulating on Monday (July 18).
‘Desus & Mero’ Fans Are Devastated Over Alleged Breakup Of Comedy Duo
After 10 years of working together, Desus and Mero have fallen victim to breakup rumors. The comedy duo consisting of Desus Nice (Daniel Baker) and The Kid Mero (Joel Armogasto Martinez) have been around for nearly a decade and during that time they have collaborated on multiple creative projects including podcasts and television shows. The two were recently granted another season for Desus & Mero on Showtime but the network has not announced an air date at this time.
A Desus and Mero fan-run Instagram account posted a screenshot of the two comedians going back and forth with one another. In June, Desus tweeted, “bodegahive you think I abandoned y’all but the art is coming back. Plz believe in me, I love y’all.”
More recently, Mero took to Reddit to express frustration at this comedic partner, “NAH IT’S A WRAP BRODY, SOMEBODY MENTIONED DUDE TWEETING THAT FROM SOME COUNTRY AT LIKE 3AM. I TOURED WITH DUDE FOR YEARS HE WAS FUBAR AND IN HIS BAG. PODCAST DONE ENJOY THE BACK CATALOG MY PALS.”
Desus responded by tweeting, “I tried ya’ll.”
