New Movie Production Studio Complex Coming to North Carolina Near Rocky Mount
Spring and summer in North Carolina usually mean it’s time for film productions to start making movie magic in our zip codes, and Nash County is now getting a much bigger chance with a huge new movie studio.
According to a recent press release, Ascent Studios is in the process of building a massive movie studio project in Spring Hope.
“Ascent Studios is more than just a film studio,” filmmaker Rob Rippberger said in a release. “It’s a creative hub, a place where artists can come together and collaborate on new and exciting projects. We can’t wait to see what amazing work will come out of here.”
The sprawling project will include five production stages on a massive 200 acre complex, with 170,000 square feet of production stages, the largest such complex in North Carolina.
“With an eye towards creating a world-class production facility, Ascent Studios is being built to the highest standards, with cutting-edge technology and expertly designed spaces for every aspect of film production, big or small,” the release said. “The landscape occupies dozens of picturesque exteriors for fields, forests, roads, barns, lakes, and manor shots.”
The studio will help filmmakers take advantage of a 25 percent tax rebate on some of their qualifying expenses, thanks to the North Carolina Film and Entertainment Grant.
“We believe that Ascent Studios will become a major player in the film industry, not just in North Carolina, but throughout the country,” filmmaker Devin Keaton said. “With our location, facilities, and top-notch team, we are poised to take the industry by storm.”
Ascent Studios is already in production on two new films, but the movie studio complex itself will not open in North Carolina until later this year.
Looks like it’s time to work on memorizing those lines and that sparkling smile! We’ll see you in pictures, kid!
