Hello my luvs! A perfect way to kick off Black History month is with the Pan African Film & Arts Festival (PAFF), celebrating its thirty-first anniversary! From its beginnings in 1992, founded by legends like Danny Glover and the late Ja’Net DuBois, PAFF has grown into a cultural gem of Los Angeles. It’s all about showcasing Black stories and voices, celebrating Pan-African culture through film, art, and creativity.

The 2024 edition, aptly named “PAFF REIMAGINED,” stays true to its mission with a fantastic lineup of over 200 incredible films from around the world. We’re talking about everything from the United States to Africa, the Caribbean to Canada, and beyond.

All I've Got & Then Some

Based on a true story, All I've Got & Then Some follows a day in the life of Rasheed, a homeless stand-up comedian moonlighting as a rideshare driver in Los Angeles and navigating falling in love while giving everything he's got to make his dreams come true.

Trust me, there are some real gems in there. One of my personal favorites is “Through Our Eyes,” a captivating exploration of West African heritage. And how about “Echoes from the Hill”? It’s a powerful dive into historical memory in the Caribbean context. PAFF isn’t just about movies, though. It’s about bringing people together. From Hollywood A-listers to art enthusiasts, everyone comes together on those dazzling red carpets.

A Hip Hop Story

Hip Hop culture is in a crisis! A pioneer of the culture joins forces with a few of rap music's elite performers to attempt to save Hip Hop.

If like me, you can’t make it to LA, no worries! PAFF has got you covered with virtual attendance options. You can join in on the fun from the comfort of your own home. Oh, and did I mention that PAFF is an Oscar-qualifying festival for animation and live-action short films? That’s right, it’s a big deal in the film community.
