North Carolina Mega Millions Jackpot Nears $1 Billion, Powerball at $750 Million
We’re not saying it’s a good time to buy a North Carolina Mega Millions or Powerball ticket, but with prizes over $1.72 billion combined, it might be time to at least consider it.
The North Carolina Education Lottery said Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing is now $977 million (or a ho-hum $461 cash jackpot). And for Saturday’s Powerball drawing, it’s $750 annuity, or $357.3 million in cash.
That’s a lot of scratch to take home, as the Mega Millions would be the sixth largest winner in history – if there even is one.
“With one jackpot almost at $1 billion and another not too far behind, this weekend could be life-changing for some lucky North Carolinian,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Make sure to check your tickets carefully after each drawing. Good luck.”
Players can buy Mega Millions and Powerball tickets at any lottery retail location or through Online Play on the lottery’s website, www.nclottery.com, or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302 million. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
