When Life Gets to Life-Ing Here Are Mental Health Resources to Help!
Hello my luvs, did you know May is all about shining a spotlight on mental health? Yeah, it’s Mental Health Awareness Month – the perfect time to kick the stigma to the curb and chat about getting everyone the support they need. Personally I have my battles with anxiety and depression among other issues, but the silver lining is that there is help out there for all of us. Often spiraling into a mental health crisis you feel very much alone, but nothing could be further from the truth!
With mental health finally getting the hype it deserves for our overall wellbeing, let’s dive into the treasure chest of freebies and resources out there. First things first, if you’re in a real situation, like crisis-level stuff, 911 is your go-to. But if it’s not red-alert time and you’re just looking to navigate the mental health jungle, there’s a bunch of help waiting for you.
Got a phone? Of course, you do. Just dial 211 and bam, you’re connected to a real person who’s got the details on everything from sorting out your headspace to finding the right kind of help. And guess what? You can keep it on the DL if you want, and they’ve got professionals who can chat in like 180 languages. Not a talker? No prob, text, web chat, or online stalking for resources are totally options. Check out more on how to hit up local 211 here.
Now, I’m just finding out about this and I wish I had known sooner – the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. This isn’t just any old number; dial 988 or the OG 1-800-273-8255, and you’ll get an ear ready to listen, a heart ready to understand, and if you need it, directions to the right spot for help. Texts, calls, chats – they’re all good here.
But wait, there’s more! Specific helplines are here it for all kinds of people when life gets to lifing. Veterans, we got you with the Veterans Crisis Line (just hit up 1-800-273-TALK (8255) and press 1, or shoot a text to 838255). Struggling? Text ‘Home’ to 741-741 for the Crisis Text Line. LGBTQ youth, The Trevor Lifeline’s has you covered at 1-866-488-7386, and for my trans luvs, The Trans Lifeline is waiting at 1-877-565-8860. These lines are here to make sure you’re heard, no matter your story.
So, as we roll through Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s get loud about these AMAZING resources. Spreading the word could be the game-changer someone out there needs, offering a lifeline and guiding them back to the sunny side. Let’s do this!
