If you are having issues with relationship closure this Valentine’s Day, an animal shelter in New Jersey is offering a hilarious solution. For a donation, this animal shelter will name a feral cat after your ex, and then neuter it.
Homeward Bound Pet Adoption in Camden County, New Jersey is offering the unique Valentine’s Day “gift” for just $50. From their Instagram post:
“Neuter Your Ex For Valentine’s Day! That’s right, for just $50 Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center will name a feral cat after your ex. The cat will then be spayed or neutered before being released back to their colony as part of our trap-neuter-return (TNR) program. TNR is a vital component of feral cat population control as it breaks the breeding cycle and stops the birth of unwanted cats in our community. Your donation ensures we can offer spay/neuter surgery at a reduced cost for community cats and their caregivers in need. You can send your $50 and your ex’s name via any of our payment platforms.”
There’s a lot to unpack here. The fact that the cats are released back to their colony is just *chef’s kiss* good. The marketing behind this is amazing. With the tagline “because some things shouldn’t breed,” the spurned animal lovers are having a field day with this event!
The comments section is on fire with users laughing and the donations are rolling in. The adoption center won’t use the full name of the offending ex, only first names and nicknames. However, there is nothing saying one couldn’t use an online gamer tag.
Hopefully, more animal rescue groups will piggyback on this movement from the New Jersey animal shelter, activism through hilarity.
