Don’t Miss the NC Black Film Festival in Wilmington This May!
Hello my luvs, I cannot wait for the NC Black Film Festival happening in Wilmington this May! I’m hitting it up for the first time ever, and it’s going to be be epic – from May 16 to May 19, 2024. This is where all the cool kids in independent cinema, especially our talented African-American filmmakers, come to flex with features, shorts, animation, and documentaries. If you’re into groundbreaking films and fresh narratives, this is where you wanna be.
Get ready to chill in some of Wilmington’s hottest spots like Thalian Hall, CFCC Union Station, Cameron Art Museum, and Jengo’s Playhouse, all brought to you by the coolest kids of them all at The Black Arts Alliance. They’re all about lifting up African-American arts and culture, so you know it’s gonna be good vibes and entertainment.
And don’t even get me started on the Wu-Tang Wednesday bash kicking off the festival on May 15th, at Waterline Brewing Company. We’re talking an all Wu-Tang Clan DJ set by RizzyBeats and a shot at bagging tickets to the premiere of a new Wu-Tang documentary. It’s destined to be lit with music, sneak peeks, and probably a surprise or two that’ll make your weekend.
Big shoutout to Laurinburg NC’s own Christopher Everett who is being honored with the 2024 Trailblazer Award, and BK Fulton, who’s walking away with the Renaissance Award. Everett’s got documentaries like “Wilmington on Fire” that really dig into African-American history and culture, while Fulton’s been killing it in film, literature, and stage.
So, mark your calendars, my luvs! This festival’s not just about catching some awesome films; it’s about getting inspired and soaking in the brilliance of black cinema and culture. Whether you’re a die-hard film buff, an up-and-coming filmmaker, or just someone who loves a good story, you won’t wanna miss out. See you in Wilmington this May for a time you won’t forget.
